Hello, Aislan - unfortunately once the satellite iPack has already sent the data file from a specific date, it will not send it again. Did you not receive the original RWD file from that date?

SymphoniePLUS3 SD Card Formatting 13 August 2012 Scope This bulletin applies to SymphoniePLUS3 data loggers with serial numbers below 494102284 and firmware version 34 or lower. These loggers shipped from NRG Systems before 1 August 2012. Any SymphoniePLUS3 logger shipped after that date has newer firmware installed that eliminates this SD card issue. Description of Issue NRG Systems has discovered a vulnerability in the SD card data storage of SymphoniePLUS3 data loggers. The problem is an addressing issue that causes the SD card to stop storing logged data. We have seen this condition develop after approximately 250 daily raw files are written to the SD card. In some cases, the Symphonie iPack?s programming can also become corrupted. This issue does NOT affect earlier Symphonie and SymphoniePLUS loggers which use an MMC memory card. Resolution NRG Systems has developed a proprietary format for SD memory cards used with SymphoniePLUS3 loggers that resolves this issue. SD cards that have been formatted using this structure will work with all Symphonie loggers and will prevent the issue with SymphoniePLUS3 loggers described above. NRG Systems factory formatted cards can be identified by the marking ?NRG FAT-A? on the card label. This will also show as the ?volume label? if inserted in a PC and viewed in Windows Explorer. Because all GS sensors are "smart" sensors and have their own microprocessor and memory storage, it is possible to install them on site as stand-alone measurement devices without installing a GS-Logger at the base of the tower. There are a couple different ways to deploy GS sensors as stand-alone measurement devices. The first is to install the sensors and booms on the tower, connect the sensors to the GS-Pod(s) without using a GS-Logger at all. At the end of the measurement period, the GS-POD or GS sensor can be removed from the tower and connected to the GS-PAD to download the data. Any non-GS sensors connected using a GS-ASIM will rely on the GS-ASIM for data storage, so in this case it is the GS-ASIM that is connected to the GS-PAD to download the data. The major drawbacks to using the GS sensors without a GS-Logger are: 1) loss of real-time boom adjustment utilizing orientation and verticality features (detected by the logger communicating with the sensor and GS-Pod); 2) a lag of up to 24 hours of data that can be pulled from the GS-Pod or GS sensor. Without the logger at the base of the tower to force the sensors and PODs to "sync", the data set extracted using the GS-PAD may end a few hours earlier than when the GS sensors and GS-PODs were actually removed from the tower. A different approach that overcomes these drawbacks is to bring the GS-Logger to the site at the beginning and end of the measurement period. During installation, perform the tower sync function. Then when you are ready to extract the data, bring the logger back out to the site, do another tower sync, and then the data can be removed from the logger [rather than having to tip the tower down and remove the GS sensor(s) and GS-POD(s) to get the data].

It sounds like an extra byte or two may be getting added to your incoming messages. Has this problem existed from the beginning of your monitoring at the site, or did it just start after several months of normal operation? Can you send us some *.RWD files to review?

These revisions will contain some important changes related to recommended guy wire tensioning during the lifting or lowering process. Proper guy wire tension is critical for a safe and successful tower installation. Please do not raise or lower your 80 m XHD until you receive these revised safety guidelines. Some of these revisions will take approximately one month to perfect and verify. At that time, we will release a new version of the installation manual and send a follow up note, highlighting changes to the installation method, and link to the new version of the 80 m XHD installation manual. Technical Support Bulletin 010 ? SymphoniePLUS3 Channel 7 Applies to serial numbers below 494101200 13 March 2012 NRG Systems has found a problem in the way the SymphoniePLUS3 (with rev. 33 and lower firmware) calculates direction data on channel 7. The problem affects both the direction average and standard deviation. While the logger is performing certain housekeeping tasks, channel 7?s ?channel type? is incorrectly changed from ?vane? to ?analog?, thereby applying the inappropriate averaging algorithm to the data. The degree to which this problem exhibits itself depends upon the number of readings which cross the vane potentiometer?s dead band (some vane readings taken from northwest and some taken from northeast within a 10 minute interval). For 10 minute intervals where this distribution of readings occurs, errors result in both the average and standard deviation for channel 7. Affected readings will noticeably differ from other vanes reporting from the Channel 7 deadband direction. For 10 minute intervals in which the wind is primarily from the southwest and southeast of the dead band, no errors result. There are several options for dealing with this problem. You may move the vane currently on channel 7 to channel 8 (if it is available) or to channel 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, or 12 by using a Vane SCM card. Vane SCM cards will be available upon request, and provided and shipped at no charge. You may choose to do nothing now, and at your convenience send the logger(s) to NRG Systems for an upgrade when either your measurement project is complete or after your next site visit. Any SymphoniePLUS3 loggers received before May 2014 will receive updates at no charge, and NRG will cover return shipping. You may return your logger(s) to NRG Systems immediately for an upgrade at no charge. Contact us for an RMA number, and we?ll provide shipping instructions. Updates will be done within a couple days and shipped back to you at no charge, and the logger will have an additional 2 years of warranty coverage. Unfortunately, we do not know of a way to correct for this error in post processing. Hello, Aislan - the first thing to confirm is that the WindLinx account is activated through the service provider, Wireless Innovation (www.windlinx.com). Assuming the account is set up and active, please check that the information unique to the 2 new iPacks you're trying to install (Mailbox Name, Mailbox Password, Sender's Email Address, Email Subject Line) isn't identical to the information copied from an old IPK file. If you send me your iPackGPS serial numbers and the IPK files you've programmed into each one, we can look into the problem further.

In addition to safety considerations, it is important to factor in the cost of the used towers. While many of these are available for a relatively low price, the cost and logistics involved with shipping these towers to the new site can quickly add up and be quite costly. Every tower installation should include new guy wires. It is very important from a safety perspective to not reuse any guy wires. The reason guy wires should not be reused is because they are the primary, most wearable parts of a tower. Guy wires are made up of multiple strands of high strength, steel wire. When the wire is turned sharply (e.g. to secure wire rope clips, or swedged to guy rings), or stretched severely due to severe wind events, the wire is made more brittle because of the physical stress resulting from bending breaks in the molecular bonds. Fissures also form and introduce corrosion deep into the wire, which also causes brittleness over time. Re-using guy wires is not considered a best-practice for all of these reasons, and most notably causes safety concerns.SENSORS It is strongly recommended you consider replacing the anemometers to ensure accuracy in the data. We also suggest that all sensors be replaced, particularly those that were installed on the used tower for a long period of time. Some sites are more harsh to sensors than others, which would lower the life of the sensor. SENSOR BOOMS The current NRG Systems? sensor boom is 95?, and is IEC 61400-12 compliant. If you have earlier, legacy booms that are shorter, you need to consider replacing those booms in order to be compliant with more recent regulations. SENSOR WIRES The exterior sensor wire sheath does age over time due to exposure to the sun?s UV rays and climate. Replacement of sensor wires should also be considered. Some tower locations require the top section to be painted per FAA guidelines. In order to meet this requirement, the use of FAA-regulated paint is also a consideration. If the used tower does not have a painted top section or if it is not clear whether the paint is FAA regulated or not, we suggest purchasing a painted top section from NRG Systems.
